GB Super League via Barcelona

The GB Super League has started at Lilleshall, Shropshire. Scotland Men are represented in the five Team competition by the Highland Jaguars comprising of  the Scotland U/21 Squad and the Caladonian Cougars with selection from the senior players.

Inverleith are represented by John Harris, Chris Grassick, Calum Milne & Graham Stuart (Manager) in the Jaguars with Adam Mackenzie & Derek Salmond being part of the Cougar Squad. Stephen Dick is recovering from an operation on his ankle.

Andrew Sinclair  (ex-Inverleith) & Fergus Dunn (ex – Grange) now with FC Barcelona have been involved in a travel marathon to be part of the Caladonian Cougars squad.

It started on Wednesday 31st March with a flight from Girona (1.1/2hrs from Barcelona) to Prestwick Airport. Training for the Cougars on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Forthbank, nr Stirling, as Scotland U/21 Squad ie Jaguars, had successfully through the week achieved a silver medal at the International  four team tournament held in Germany. They deserved a bit of downtime.

It was back to Prestwick for Andrew & Fergus on Monday 5th April for a return journey to Girona then by bus to Barcelona. FC Barcelona training on Tuesday night then back to Girona Airport on Thursday 8th for a flight to Edinburgh.

Friday 9th April saw a early morning meet at the Heriot Watt University for the fun bus down south via Glasgow to pick up the rest of the Cougar & Jaguar squads. Friday night involved a friendly match between the Cougars & Jaguars with the bragging rights going to the Cougars 6 – 1.

The Cougar Squad numbers had been depleted by injury to such an extend that they started their Saturday 10th match v Pennine Pumas with only 12 players. They went down to 11 with the loss of GB International Graham Moodie. The Cougars did score the 1st goal but ran out losers 1 – 4 and a few walking wounded!.

Andrew & Fergus then caught a train to Liverpool with a taxi ride to the Airport for a flight to Reus (1 ½ hrs from Barcelona). Unfortunately by the time they arrived at Reus the Bus and Train service had stopped.!!

Sunday 11th  April saw Andrew & Fergus having to rough it until 5.45 for a bus back to Barcelona and to arrive home at 08.30 for a few hours sleep!!  They were back out to play a midday League match which they won 4 – 2.

The Highland Jaguars by this time had played their 1st match v Saxon Tigers and gained an excellent 3 – 3 result after being 0 – 3 down.

Andrew & Fergus are due back in Edinburgh via Girona on Tuesday 13th  April for the Cougars v Jaguars match to be played on Wednesday 14th April at Forthbank,(Stirling Albion FC) from 19.00. So come and support the Inverleith players within whatever Team!!

Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th April will see the GB Super League held at Peffermill. On Saturday from 11.00, the Jaguars will play Pennine Pumas and from 13.00, the Cougars will play the Celtic Panthers.
