EAST U/14 Tigers lose on Penalties to the Lions

EAST DISTRICT U/14 MIXED TIGERS & LIONS
Good news first - both East U14 sides got through to play each other in the final, with the Lions winning out after a very long sudden-death penalty shoot out.

East Tigers: Cameron McCue, Catriona McLellan (Capt), Lucy Clark, Eilidh Thomson, Shona McNab, Simon Whait, Joe Waterson, John McKay, Marc Smith, Jack Hewitt, Guy Rowson, John McLuskey
Coach - Walter Jamieson, Jim Hatton

The Tigers started with 2 comfortable wins against North and South West, before really finding there form to sweep aside West 9-0, with Marc Smith getting 5 goals! Midlands provided the toughest opposition in the group stages, and the team did really well to recover from going a goal down in the first half to run out 3-1 winners with a very impressive display of attacking hockey in the second half. A comfortable win against Highland secured their place in the Final against the East Lions.

The whole day was a great success, and everybody left very hot and exhausted but happy with their medals. It was fantastic to see both sides making it to the final, which was played in a very competitive but friendly spirit, and the fact that it took such a protracted penalty shoot out to separate the teams at the end simply confirmed how evenly matched the 2 squads were. East District should be very proud of their U14 representatives!

Many thanks to Rona MacVicar for managing both squads and for stepping in to umpire on behalf of East District in the group games.
