Purple Heroes: Molly MacLachlan

At this time of worldwide crisis, there are people who have been asked to stand up and take the strain to ensure that we all stay safe and healthy and to look after those of us in the most need.

We’d like to take the opportunity, while the world praises the work being done by healthcare professionals and volunteers all over, to highlight some incredible club members risking themselves on the front line everyday to battle this pandemic and to keep us safe.

Molly has been doing the purple family proud during her time in isolation! When she’s not cheering on Purple from the sidelines, she usually splits her time between her new Interior Design company, Molly Mac Interiors and working as a freelance Fitness Instructor in gyms around Edinburgh. Since lockdown she has moved her fitness sessions online under the name Molly Mac Fitness.

She has also raised a whole lot of money for the British Red Cross Covid-19 Appeal!

Molly teamed up with her girlfriend, Ladies 1s player Rachael Campbell’s auntie, who runs a Pilates and Holistic Centre in Kinross called Heart and Soul.

They came up with the idea to host a Virtual Health and Wellbeing Day including Fitness Classes, Pilates, Yoga, Family Yoga and some Zumba Dance to finish. People could tune in and take part in as much as they liked throughout the day.

A massive 95 people took part in the days activities with some completing every session, on top of that an incredible 116 households donated to to the Go Fund Me Page that Molly set up. The total currently sits at £3279!

When asked if this session was going to be a one time thing, Molly responded;

After the amazing response we had from this one I think another one is definitely in the pipeline. It was such a feel good day and we raised a fab amount of money for charity.

Molly has received some great feedback from people who took part. It made people feel like they were having some form of social contact and they really enjoyed trying out different types of exercise.

If you would like to contribute to this amazing cause, you can still donate to the Go Fund Me Page. Simply click on the image below and follow the instructions, proceeds go to helping those in the front line fighting to keep us all safe!

Thank you Molly for the work you’re doing!
