Volunteers Make Inverleith Hockey Happen

We are an amateur sports club, run by the players for the players. We have a few paid coaches but
everything else that happens in our club happens because of our amazing volunteers.

Why volunteer?

Studies consistently show that volunteering is good for you! Helping others, connecting with people, getting outside and practicing new skills.

As a volunteer you are also a role model to our young people, showing them that they too can make fun things happen in the physical world by joining in, organising and making connections.

What do volunteers do?

Coach:
The club will support any members or parents wanting to develop their leadership and coaching skills. We can point you to relevant courses and can help with funding. Our youth and adult teams are always looking for coaches to help them to oganise and improve.

Umpire:
All adult league teams are expected to provide a rota of umpires to help other teams. Not very confident with the rules? We can help you get the training you need.

Team Manager:
Primary responsibility: Assigned a team or teams and is responsible for assembling squads and logistics for training and matches across the season.
Required for all youth age groups and some adult teams.

Youth Training Session Helper:
Primary responsibility: On a rota support the head coach to deliver their session. Required for U8, U10 and U12.

Youth Match Day Helper:
Primary responsibility: On a rota help run a team on a match day, getting them to the right pitch and running substitutions.
Required for U8, U10, U12 and U14.

First Aider:
Perhaps you’re a doctor, nurse or trained 1st aider already, or would like to attend a course to become one. We always need trained 1st aiders by our pitches and it would be great to know who you are.

Club Management:
Finance, social media and communications, kit secretary, volunteer development, sponsorship & strategy – there are many roles that you could help with on and off the pitch.

Commitment:

You can give as much or as little time as suits your situation.

If you are helping youth players, we would ask that you join the PVG scheme. We will help with this.

Young Volunteers:

We start them young at Inverleith! We have a program for developing young leaders. Find out more about our leadership opportunities for 13 to 18 year olds.
